RUNWAY — Companies & Ecosystem Report

A verified organization-level map of companies publicly connected with Runway: customers, enterprise deployments, API users, strategic partners, creative collaborators, technology partners, model providers, education users and project-level users.

Customer ≠ Partner ≠ Model Provider Primary sources prioritized No fabricated metrics Current + historical relationships separated

Executive conclusion

Runway's ecosystem is broader than a conventional SaaS customer list. The strongest evidence today clusters around five layers: (1) direct enterprise/customer deployments such as Chime, Skyscanner, Shutterstock and Havas; (2) studio and media relationships such as Lionsgate, Paramount, AMC Networks and Fremantle; (3) API/Dev infrastructure users such as Shutterstock, Adobe, ElevenLabs, Figma Weave, Gamma and Silverside; (4) strategic technology/data partners such as NVIDIA and Getty Images; and (5) creative ecosystem organizations such as Tool, Obsidian, EDGLRD, Media.Monks and Superside.

The evidence also shows a meaningful shift from “creative tool” toward production infrastructure: Runway Dev now exposes first-party and third-party models, Workflows can be called through APIs, Characters provides real-time video agents, and enterprise controls include security, spend management and model/provider controls. Runway itself says its Dev platform is already used by named companies to generate millions of media assets, but some enterprise-scale examples are anonymized.

Research scope & evidence rules

This database intentionally avoids treating every brand appearing in a campaign as a Runway customer. A company can be listed because it is a partner, model provider, API user, project client, or named enterprise adopter — with that relationship explicitly labeled.

The database contains organizations explicitly named by Runway in official partnerships, customer stories, product announcements, the Talent Network, Dev launch, or current enterprise communications. It does not claim that every named project client is a direct Runway contracting customer.

Enterprise Customers & Production Deployments

The strongest production evidence is not limited to Hollywood. Runway's 2026 enterprise communications describe adoption across banking, travel, advertising, technology, retail, media and creative software.

Direct customer stories

Chime, Shutterstock, Havas Group, Skyscanner, Eggplant Picture & Sound, Tool of North America, Silverside, R/GA, Fremantle/Imaginae and J. Garcia Lopez provide the clearest public workflow evidence.

Strategic studio relationships

Lionsgate and AMC Networks have formal relationships that extend beyond isolated creative experiments into production, development and broader organizational workflows.

Enterprise adopters

Runway's August 2026 enterprise update names Amazon, Microsoft, Allstate, Adobe and Robinhood among enterprises whose adoption contributed to growth. Exact deployment details for these organizations are not publicly disclosed in that announcement.

Scale evidence

Runway's AI Media Report says it analyzed hundreds of enterprises and measured customer-reported cost and time savings; individual anonymized customers are not named.

Agency ecosystem

Havas Group, Prose on Pixels, Fred & Farid, Media.Monks and R/GA demonstrate agency-side use where Runway becomes part of repeatable creative production rather than a standalone experiment.

Third-Party Model Providers

Important: a model provider is not automatically a Runway customer. Runway Dev is explicitly designed to combine Runway's own models with selected third-party models. The relationship can therefore be model provider, platform participant, customer, or multiple roles at once.

Competitor / Multi-AI Stack View

Public evidence suggests Runway increasingly sits inside multi-model stacks rather than replacing every other AI provider. This is particularly clear in Runway Dev, where first-party and third-party models are exposed through one enterprise platform.

Failure / Limitations / What the Evidence Does Not Prove

Customer opacity

Many of Runway's largest enterprise examples are anonymized. This makes precise customer-by-customer deployment measurement impossible from public sources.

ROI attribution

Several metrics are customer-reported or Runway-reported. They should not be treated as audited independent ROI studies.

Model attribution

Older case studies often say “Runway” without naming a specific model. The report does not infer Gen-4.5, Gen-4 or another model without evidence.

Multi-tool reality

Agencies and production studios often use Runway alongside other AI and traditional tools. “Uses Runway” does not mean “Runway is the primary platform.”

Partner ≠ customer

Lionsgate, Getty Images, NVIDIA and AMC Networks have formal partnerships, but partnership status should not be converted into a conventional SaaS-customer claim.

Creative client ≠ direct customer

Brands such as Nike, Disney and Coca-Cola appear in Runway customer stories through production/agency partners. The evidence supports project-level association, not necessarily a direct Runway contract.

Final Strategic Analysis

Is Runway becoming a core production platform?

Answer: the public evidence points toward “yes, in selected enterprise creative workflows,” but not yet “the universal production platform.”

The clearest transition signal is architectural. Runway now offers a developer platform that bundles proprietary models, third-party models, routing, recipes, Workflows and Characters. This means a company can integrate Runway as a media-production layer rather than simply buying a consumer-facing generation tool.

The customer evidence reinforces that direction: Chime, Shutterstock, Havas, Silverside, Skyscanner, R/GA and J. Garcia Lopez demonstrate repeatable workflow integration; Lionsgate and AMC Networks demonstrate strategic studio relationships; NVIDIA and Getty Images demonstrate infrastructure/data relationships; and education, music and festival partnerships broaden the ecosystem.

However, public evidence does not justify saying Runway has displaced Adobe, OpenAI, Google, traditional VFX or other AI tools across enterprises. The more defensible conclusion is that Runway is establishing itself as a specialized, increasingly broad AI media infrastructure and creative-production layer with particular strength in video, workflows and emerging real-time/world-model applications.

Final Questions — Direct Answers

1. Strongest connections?

Lionsgate, NVIDIA, Shutterstock, Chime, Havas, R/GA, MIXI, Silverside, Skyscanner and Fremantle/Imaginae are among the strongest publicly evidenced relationships.

2. Customers vs partners?

Customers: Chime, Shutterstock, Skyscanner, Havas, Eggplant, Tool, Silverside and others. Partners: Lionsgate, NVIDIA, Getty Images, AMC Networks, Media.Monks and Musixmatch. Project clients are separately labeled.

3. Heaviest industries?

Advertising/marketing and film/television show the deepest visible adoption, followed by creative software/media, technology and travel.

4. Products actually used?

Runway/Gen-series video, Workflows, API/Runway Dev, Characters and Aleph are publicly evidenced. Exact model use is not disclosed for every customer.

5. Production scale?

Shutterstock, Chime, Havas, Silverside and major studio/agency relationships provide the clearest production-scale evidence.

6. API / Dev?

Shutterstock, Adobe, ElevenLabs, Figma Weave, Gamma, Silverside and R/GA are explicitly named in Runway's Dev/API communications.

7. Enterprise?

Runway publicly names adoption by Amazon, Microsoft, Allstate, Adobe and Robinhood, while more detailed named enterprise stories include Chime, MIXI, Shutterstock and Havas.

8. Agent / Workflows?

Chime uses Workflows; R/GA uses Characters/API; Runway Dev now exposes Workflows and Characters for enterprise integrations. Specific Agent usage by named companies is less publicly disclosed.

9. Measurable value?

Public examples include time/cost reductions, asset throughput and campaign leads. Strongest quantified examples include Chime, Silverside, Eggplant and J. Garcia Lopez.

10. Core platform or experiment?

Both. The evidence now supports production-platform status in selected workflows, while the overall enterprise market remains multi-tool and model-agnostic.
