Introduction
Dario Amodei is an AI researcher and co-founder of Anthropic. He previously worked at OpenAI as the Vice President of Research, where he led the development of core language models before leaving to focus specifically on steerable and safe AI systems.
Education & Research
Amodei received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and earned a PhD in biophysics from Princeton University. He conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford, developing specialized neural network models and computational analysis pipelines.
Founding Anthropic
Concerned about safety issues and corporate alignment at OpenAI, Amodei departed in 2021 with his sister Daniela to found Anthropic. The company launched Claude, an AI system that implements Constitutional AI, a training method designed to align AI with human values.
