Socher earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2014, working under Andrew Ng and Christopher Manning. His doctoral research introduced recursive neural networks to natural language processing, showing how trees and structures in language could be represented mathematically. This research pioneered modern semantic parsing and sentiment analysis models.

MetaMind, Salesforce, and You.com

In 2014, Socher founded MetaMind, an enterprise AI platform that was acquired by Salesforce in 2016. At Salesforce, he served as Chief Scientist, leading research on multi-task natural language processing (DecaNLP).
